About Us
Hi there. We're a Sydney-based family of four — dad, mum, and pre-teen two boys (as at the founding of this blog) — who first tried the board game Escape Room: The Game a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but didn't try our first physical escape room until we stumbled onto one during a 2024 vacation. We were hooked immediately have since been borderline obsessed with trying all the best escape rooms in Sydney, then across Australia, and eventually, the world. This blog is mostly to document our escape room journey — from physical to virtual to tabletop — and hopefully it can also be of assistance to other escape room players when deciding which rooms to try.

Meet the Family ​
H: The father of the family. Obsessed with escape rooms and spends an unhealthy amount of time on Morty and escape room blogs.
​
Strengths: Jack of all trades with a particular focus on word and number puzzles.
Weaknesses: Tendency to overlook small details when nervous or pressed for time.
Likes: Immersive experiences, in particular horror-themed and unique/memorable rooms.
Dislikes: Cheap-looking props, faulty and inelegant puzzles, uninterested GMs, poor room flow.
E: The mother of the family. Not usually a fan of games but surprisingly enjoys going to quality escape rooms with the family.

Strengths: The fixer and practical problem solver of the family; highly organised and often tasked with keeping the team on track (and most importantly, preventing the kids from arguing).
Weaknesses: Numbers and mathematics.
​
Likes: Fun rooms with great atmosphere that require team work and enhance quality time with family.
Dislikes: Horror-themed rooms, in particular those with occult themes. The jury is out on live actors... for now.
Z: The firstborn son of the family. Gifted and enthusiastic escape room player who can absorb new skills and techniques with every new room, and apply them to the next one.

Strengths: Highly analytical and fast-processing mind; very logical and makes connections quickly and efficiently.
Weaknesses: Can go too fast for his own good at times and become overconfident, leading to carelessness.
​
Likes: Immersive rooms with puzzles that are challenging, creative and fun.
Dislikes: Puzzles that are frustrating or don't make sense; rooms that end too quickly.
J: The baby of the family. A sensitive soul who tends to get obsessed with things easily. We're just glad it's escape rooms for now.

Strengths: Very artistic, creative, and tends to thinks outside the box. Has a pair of very sharp eyes that can see very far and spot the tiniest of details.
Weaknesses: Impatient and impulsive; sometimes thinks TOO outside the box, even for abstract escape room puzzles.
​
Likes: High-quality escape rooms with good props and atmosphere.
Dislikes: Role playing and losing.
