After escaping Baker Street Mystery, we took on the last remaining Social Escape room (for now), Paris Escape, which also happens to be their oldest room.

I really loved the somewhat low-stakes, high-pressure premise of this room: You are in Paris for a holiday and you’ve lost your passport and ticket in your hotel room. You have one hour to find it before it’s too late!

The theming was great. The room was actually decorated to look like a Parisian boutique hotel, complete with an assortment of recognisable French objects. There was a simplicity and elegance to the design that created a light-hearted and breezy atmosphere.

The puzzles were also quite fun and assorted, with a few that were very different and interesting. The vast majority of the puzzles led to padlocks and pin codes; there was some tech, but it was all very well hidden. This actually matched the theming of the room better.

Paris Escape is rated Social’s easiest room, so we felt like it would be too embarrassing to ask for help! Thankfully, there was really only one puzzle that we got stuck on, and we eventually managed to figure it out on our own after realising we were overcomplicating things.

As usual, we had fun. There’s just something about the rooms at Social Escape that always leave us very satisfied customers.

Verdict: A quaint, charming little room with a unique concept and lovely theming — another fun winner from Social Escape!
