Difficulty: Medium

Date visited: June 2026

After a couple of days getting acclimatised to the time difference and sightseeing in Toronto (including a Blue Jays game!), we made the drive down to Niagara Falls. Shortly after checking in at our hotel, we headed to Niagara Escapement to play Easy Bake Coven, said to be a family-friendly, beginner-friendly game. How was our very first game in Canada?

  • As advertised, this was a short and sweet game designed for 2-4 players. To be honest, I didn't think it was that easy (we still needed to put our thinking caps on), but we did finish in just 23 minutes, so I think that is more a reflection of the smaller size of the room and fewer number of puzzles.

  • While nothing fancy, the room did have a sweet old-school charm, with decor that channelled the classic story of Hansel and Gretel.

  • The first part of the set was rather basic, but the second part opened up to more props and puzzles that fit the theme.

  • The puzzles were linear and mostly involved tech and props that you need to physically manipulate. We found all the puzzles fun and clever.

  • In all, this was the perfect start to our escape room adventures in Canada, something to get our brains working and to whet the appetite for what's to come.

Verdict: A cute little escape room that has a basic set but an old-school charm. Great for beginners and smaller groups.
