This was our third and final game at Quest Room during our Brisbane/Gold Coast trip. It’s also their newest game, released in late 2024. Here’s what I thought:
We could really tell this was their newest room. It had a new-generation feel, with quality props and cinematic techniques that really enhanced the immersion and atmosphere.
It had a creepy and eerie vibe, but was not a very scary room, with only a couple of potential and mild jump scares. It’s quite a theatrical room, with certain moments and visuals felt like they came straight out of a horror movie.
It's not a very physical room, though a bit of crawling might be necessary.
The puzzles were solid and had good overall flow, starting with some easy ones before ramping up to a few challenging head-scratchers. A couple of the concepts were quite innovative, though at times we only got through it with some fortuitous assumptions and guesswork. We did get stuck a couple of times but didn’t require hints in the end, finishing in under 47 minutes, so I would say it would be quite difficult for casual players.
It’s not a huge room, but clever use of space and theming made the experience feel much bigger than it actually was.
We don’t usually care about the storyline as much as other teams, but it’s great that the narrative wasn’t hard to follow and I thought it had some good reveals and twists. While the ending was good, what came before it had me hoping for something even more memorable and climatic.

Verdict: The Orphanage was a doozy and my favourite experience at Quest Room. Creepy, theatrical, and atmospheric, it also has an intriguing storyline bolstered by cool reveals and twists.
