Our third and final game at Crypto Escape was The Sorcerer's Secret (not to be confused with the name of the same game at Scram Penrith), which ranked No. 69 in the world in 2024 before slipping back to No. 170 in 2025. Was it Crypto's best room?
The answer is a resounding yes! We could already see Crypto Escape's evolution from Below Zero to The Lost Shipwreck in its upgraded theming and tech, and now they've levelled up again with The Sorcerer's Secret, delivering one of the most tech-driven games we've played to date.
The decor was spectacular and at times it felt like a Harry Potter film set, with lighting, sound, animatronics, and special effects galore. You can tell everything has been professionally and lovingly crafted, with a particular emphasis on quality and colour coordination.
This was also a story-driven game, so there were quite a few cut scenes with a fair amount of media to watch and listen. The immersion was great, making us feel like we were wizards in some sort of RPG fantasy.
Like Crypto's other rooms, many of the puzzles were task based, but I felt like there was a bit more variety this time, requiring us to tap into a wider set of skills that included observation, voice and hand commands, and physical manipulation. Importantly, the puzzles were at least thematic and diegetic, albeit still veering into repetition at times.
The final section of the game delivered a jaw-dropping moment that everyone will remember, and also some of the game's weakest and most repetitive puzzles, but at least every member of our team could participate. Given the props they provided in the game, I think 4 to 6 players would be fine, but 8 might be pushing it.

Verdict: Combining an incredible set, hi-tech wizardry, and several memorable effects and moments, The Sorcerer's Secret is Crypto Escape's best room and a worthy former TERPECA Top Room that's perfect for the whole family.
